When Barry came to visit

George's second Christmas

its hard to believe that this child is only 14 months old. Wow. so much has happened and he has grown leaps and bounds. He is walking, no running. pulling his wagon. Playing creatively with his toys and his grandparents. He is so smiley and loves to chirp out "Hi". I am not the least bit biased but I think he is a genius.

Finally an update.

Hot hot hot. 32C. We went to Riley park to take a picture of mother and babe.
In 1921 my grandmother took her 3 babies to the same park and a blurry shot was taken on an ancient box camera. My mother took her 3 kids in the 1950's and a nice pic was taken of mother and babies. Now off we go, my daughter and her son, to stand in the same spot as her ancestors and add another picture to the family album.
But it was so hot and G just wanted to join the hoards of screaming kids at the paddle pool. We forgot to take the picture.
I will go back. But first I will dig up the old photos.
The most notable difference between 1921 and 2015 is the huge pile of stuff one lugs around for baby's care.
Since we had dropped Mummy off at her hairdresser's, G and I parked the car and loaded up..
Granny and G put the rubics cube of a baby stroller together. First we had to figure out how to release the brake. Italian strollers or baby conveyors are all about style and price not so much about practicality.
With the brake off, in went G in his royal sedan chair of a baby seat.
Clicks and snaps and I just hoped he was in.
Next  the diaper bag with 4 changes of clothes and towels,  baby snack cooler, water bottles, several gauzey sheets for sun protection, adult cooler, giant umbrella,  snap up baby tent, Mexican blanket, towels and car keys.
I (Granny) had to remember my license number and the parking area code so that I could charge the parking and not get a ticket.
So only one false start to go back for the credit card and we are off.
What started as a gentle slope down to the pool and grass became a slalom  run at top speed and at a shocking grade that I hadn't anticipated sometimes tilted on 2 wheels and aways in danger of sudden evacuation of child and a buggy contents we ground to a halt only to discover the best spot was under a tree back at the top of the hill.
Did I mention that it was muggy and smokey from the wildfires. I wheezed up the hill and between the two of us, baby and I put together our picnic site. While one picked grass and tried to eat it, the other, dropping in sweat put together the tricky tent and umbrella.
Then down to the pool to cool off and oh did I mention that you should remove the  diaper before going into the pool? Boy do they swell up huge. Silly Granny.
Oh  and my grandmother's photograph was taken at the same park, with three little kids two years apart all in a baby carriage in the winter!
